So is it 4 tracks along the complete section being built? Or only 3 with 4 on selected parts?
"Where else but Queensland?"

mufreight

It is now actually four tracks but the fourth track is only to be electrified for part of the distance and the configuration of the pointwork will not allow the operation of electrics over a considerable length of the fourth line which at this stage will effectively be only for freight services.
At this stage there will be no platform on the fourth line at Oxley despite the Queensland Transport Rail Capacity Study which states that the prediction of services required will require the avaliability of all four tracks for passenger services by 2010.
Trackstar are more than capable of carrying out the work in the current project but can only construct what they are funded to build by government despite it being fact that the cost to set up to construct the fourth platform at Oxley, reconfigure the pointwork and signaling at Corinda and Darra and complete the missing link with the electrification will probably be as much as the actual work if carried out as a component of the current project, a good point to raise with your local member after all it is your money the government is spending to only do 80% of the job this time supposedly to save money, sound familiar.

Work over for the day, around 4.40pm.

Platform 3 was due to be commissioned this weekend, still a long way from completion. The rain storms the past month have contributed to some delays no doubt.  Still waiting official confirmation but the track slew scheduled for this weekend may be put off, as you can see the platform is a long way from completion or even basic functionality.  It is understood the track closure Corinda to Ipswich will still go ahead for other projects to be done.

It's official, the opening date for platform 3 is now Monday 19th January 2009.  This delay was expected to anyone following the progress closely, and will mean that the foot bridge should be complete too.

A train of locomotives enroute to Redbank came through.  Interesting was the last locomotive, 4026, an infrequent visitor to Oxley!
