The lift vehicle for work on the OHT was on the back of truck yesterday to assist in attaching fittings to portals where no track yet (see photo in post immediately above).

Noted running through platform 2 road this morning at Oxley.

Some further comments from mufreight:

QuoteThe rail mounted scissors lift (work platform) was apparently being used on the back of the truck to fit cantenary brackets to the portal masts over the new track bed, they would be using it on rail today  I would expect to adjust the alignment of the overhead over the crossover at Corinda and also to install bracket arms on the new portal structures over the existing tracks and move the overhead on to them from the old overhead support masts so that the old masts can be removed as they have done on the curve leading from Oxley station towards the Cliveden Rd overbridge with the overhead suspended from the new portals and the old masts have been cut down and were still lying on the ground alongside the track.

Caught the early bird service from Oxley again this morning (5.57am). Whilst waiting an interesting collection of trains.

The 5.38 Shorncliffe service was running 8 minutes late, EMU08 leading was badly paint damaged.  It had been completely repainted. Time this outrage was stopped.

Preceeding the late 5.38 was a down coalie, presumably the reason for the delay.

After the 5.38 Shorncliffe left it was followed by an  down empty Westlander 2499D at 5.53am .  Repositioning following the line closure.

The early bird arrived on time at 5.57am, counted about 150 pax leaving Auchenflower. Many passengers probably caught the late running 5.38am service.

An up coalie through Oxley at 0555am, 2314/2362.

Passed an up ballast train between Oxley and Corinda.

Noted at Corinda a rake of locos coming of the Tennyson loop heading towards Redbank.

Trains galore!!

Some of the overhead wire has been attached to the new OHT supports.

Hi Ozzie Bob,
Could you please tell me if this project is part of the Rail extension to Springfield lakes or am I incorrect.
Also can you give me the route of the Extension to Springfield Lakes please.

Regards,
Wilfy 2007.

Howdy,

The Springfield branch line is from Darra to Springfield. Planned stations are Richlands, Ellen Grove, Springfield Lakes and Springfield Central.

The construction of the section Darra to Richlands has commenced.
See this thread here --> http://backontrack.org/mbs/index.php?topic=639.0

The quadruplication project between Darra and Corinda is to give capacity which will be needed in time for the Springfield and the main western line.

Cheers
Bob

There was a community meeting held at Oxley last night convened by local MP Mrs J. Attwood, where Trackstar gave a presentation on the project particularly Oxley station. Some concerns with noise were raised by local residents.  Trackstar, QR will liaise with residents to see if further mitigation is possible.

The presentation was very informative and I am sure the pain will be worth the gain!

If people have concerns they should contact Trackstar Ms Jodie Lamb and her community staff direct on 1800 680 385.
