Interesting train of locos you have there Ozbob. How many locos in total?

ozbob

I was a bit slow, but I estimate 8 or 9.  It was a good effort, particularly with the 4000 class on the end!

Today, 16th January is the last scheduled day for operation of down Citytrain  services on the present platform 2 road.

From Monday new track through platform 3.

Here are few photographs including the arrival earlier today of the 6.12am (EMU 11/21) Down service at Oxley.

Note the temporary fencing being put in place in some parts of platform 3.  There is much activity going on with the new platform, I noted a truck with roofing material arrive shortly before I left Oxley this morning.

Media Release 18 January 2009

SEQ:  The next Caboolture train will depart from platform 3 at Oxley in two minutes!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport users has congratulated the Trackstar Alliance on the opening of the new additional platform (platform 3)  at Oxley railway station on the 19th January.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"The Corinda to Darra track upgrade project is very significant in terms of the increased capacity that will result.  The present double line between Corinda and Darra is being upgraded to a four track railway (1).  An important milestone in this project is the opening of the new additional platform at Oxley tomorrow morning, the 19th of January."

"RAIL Back On Track members have followed this project closely as it is a rare opportunity to observe modern railway construction techniques at close hand (2). The residents along the railway have been very patient as the project does cause some disruptions and we would like to thank them on behalf of the community. The community engagement by Trackstar has been excellent."

"Platform 3, the new platform, will be finished off completely in the next few months.  The new platform will feature improved passenger information, platform length shelter, ticketing and go card  facilities,  a new footbridge and additional car parking for 70 vehicles. More bicycle lockers, improved security and landscaping will complete this very welcome addition to the Citytrain network."

"The upgrade of Darra railway station is soon to commence, and this will also be of great benefit. Darra is soon to be the junction station for the Richlands and eventually the Springfield railway line."

"Tomorrow morning is very significant in terms of improved transport outcomes for south-east Queensland.  The main western railway line is going to be a critical component for sustainable transport as rapid development proceeds at Springfield, Ripley Valley, Ipswich and beyond."

"Congratulations to all associated with the project on reaching this milestone.  We look forward to further excellent outcomes, as rail surges forward and provides a sustainable transport future for us all!"

Is that still a covered AVVM that I see?  That'll cause all sorts of problems.

Looks like the signalling hasn't been completed yet either - with the big X on the signal at the end of the platform.

The go card reader and AVVM are to be operational later today was advice received at Oxley this morning, this is a minor irritant.
Plenty of staff directing passengers as well.

The signalling is fine, that is for the new bi-directional signalling when the other lines completed.

Thanks for the interest radio  612 ABC Brisbane and Spencer Howson for the interview at 5.15am this morning  :)

The wet weather in November and December did impact on the new platform, it was time critical for the slew to have the platform functional.  There was a huge effort made over the weekend to make it so.  Thanks.

The next slew is scheduled for some time in February when up trains will switch from platform one to two.

Cheers
Bob

I called into platform 3 on the way home this evening.  The go card device was functional, but the AVVM although on, was only accepting EFTPOS, no tickets or receipts.
