Parking is now prohibited on the rail side of Ardoyne Road from 17 Mile Rocks Road down past the station.

This is to allow the works to proceed no doubt.

This weekend (19th and 20th July) there is a track closure from Sherwood to Ipswich.

Works going on from Sherwood to Corinda, Oxley, Darra and Redbank.

At Oxley it is believed the steel mesh reinforcement for the new footbridge will be put in place.
And the earth embankment cleared under the road bridge?

Two houses next to the commuter car park in Ardoyne Street are being demolished to increase car parking spaces.

Couple of photographs.

Steel reinforcement structures ready for installation over the weekend.

Notices were left on vehicles in the commuter parks today advising of car park closures over the coming weekend.

Passenger alerts advising of the line closure were out around Oxley station on Tuesday.  Good work that, timely notification does help.

Had a look around Oxley early this morning.

Nothing happening with the road bridge, although flood lights still brightly illuminating 'danger corner' each night (--> http://backontrack.org/mbs/index.php?topic=897.msg5059#msg5059 ).

Works seems to be focussed on the new foot bridge foundations and clearing around that general area.  The column reinforcement is still not in position. Some support framework will I guess be put in position first.

Most of the punters are resigned to the bus arrangements. The good and early signage has helped a lot and good work Trackstar.  The simple things if done well do help a lot.

Plenty of buses, BBL and KBL.

Work has been going on to reinforce the northern wall where the road crosses the railway line for when the soil is taken for the new 'down' line.  These photographs show recent work and the piling machine used to dig the holes now on the western side of the road bridge. The size of these holes can be gauged from the photograph of coils of steel reinforcing mesh.
Very deep and very solid.  These piles could be used to provide support for a wall to protect the railway line from errant motor vehicles coming down Seventeen Mile Rocks road.

Soil has started to be removed beneath the road bridge at Oxley on the Down side.  This is for the new 'down' line. Extensive pilling as been done to secure the location prior to the soil removal. The existing double lines will also be slewed towards the north to make room for the new 'up' line  it is believed.

Two footings were put in place.  Presumably for the new overhead masts?

The road bridge is now clear.   The present tracks will be slewed. The new 'down' line with be the right half far right.  The present down to the left of that line. The present up will be immediately to the right of the centre of the bridge, left half and the 'freight line' to the left of that.

The Ipswich line will be very busy today and tomorrow with the Air Show.  Those who are smart will catch the train and shuttle buses from Ipswich.  There are about 160 traffic control staff and 80 police rostered for traffic managment, and there will be changes to Cunningham Highway traffic patterns as well.

Ease the strain and go by train!   ;D
