Quote from: verbatim9 on November 05, 2023, 12:52:26 PMThere was a push in the EU to abandon daylight saving because of this reason. They have since reversed the idea of permanent daylight saving and is now keeping with the status quo as the benefits outweigh all these conspiracy theories. (untruths).

Actually, by what i've seen, a big reason why killing DST in Europe was the EU put a target date in much too soon, so many industries did not have enough time to properly adjust before it happened. This resulted in pushback of it all going through, and now is currently stalled. Several countries are still pushing to end DST

The EU not coming to a consensus position suiting all 27 members isn't really evidence for whether something is or isn't a bad idea.

Try asking somebody in Europe about fluoridation of water and they look at you funny.  Mind you in places nobody drinks tap water to begin with.

Recent survey concludes that most residents of Queensland would like to have Daylight Saving, amongst other issues.

Hopefully, the Qld Government commits and introduces a 4 year trial to start in October 2024 with a referendum at the local government elections in 2028. Therefore it wouldn't be an election issue coming up to the state election as the trial would already be legislated, making it politically possible in a bi partisan way.

Jan 19 will be the longest sunlit evening here in SE Qld, despite the longest day being December 22.

Another meaningless, rubbish poll by the Courier Mail.

Could Daylight Saving become a reality in Qld once again? New poll suggests close to 80% of residents in Brisbane and 66% statewide would support the change as well as State Government Ministers.

More nonsense. It would be more sensible for the southern states to scrap DST. The concept has had its time. It doesn't belong in modern Australia.

Daylight Saving backed

Findings - People who haven't finished year 12 or haven't gone onto finishing a under graduate degree are likely to be against Daylight Saving.

Redrient

I am in neither of these groups but lived with it for 5 years in Canberra and want no part of daylight savings ever again. Still annoying to deal with for a week at a time when I travel for work meetings.

However, I am but one person.

It's a poll. How do you describe the results as nonsense? You can disagree if you like, but it's just reporting public opinion.

Because the DST brigade has been telling lies to people about the benefits for years. That's why its nonsense. They should tell the truth, and then see how many support it.
