there is a massive subdivision to the east of Ellengrove.....its called forest lake lol.....
from the eastern side of the station its like this.....ellen grove will specifically service the southern part of forest lake and pallara.......richlands is for the northern part and inala.
Ellengrove would probably be the preferred station for residents from browns plains, hillcrest etc to connect into instead of woodridge or Loganlea....
Then there is the extra crosstown bus options to redbank etc......don't worry too much about immediate residential development...it wont happen overnight...took years for richlands to get its local development up.....

Richlands has been open for 5 years I'm still waiting for any sort of redevelopment to happen on the acreage properties at Ellen Grove

Your looking at a massive opportunity for bikes into ellen grove right there......
There is absolutely no excuse for there not to be a station....

Because it's in Annastasia Palaszczuk's seat. Too busy jetting off across the state and securing votes in marginal seats/North Queensland to bother needing to campaign on issues in her own seat. If she wants to bring in some goodies to her electorate, she can do it in her own time...
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Why is $50 million being spent relocating an existing railway station when Ellen Grove is still waiting for the station that was promised when the Springfield line was projected?

Since the line was built there has been a huge amount of residential development in the catchment of the proposed station and much more is planned. Parking at existing stations is bursting at the seams.

The Carole Park industrial area would also benefit from the station and there would be a reduction in single-occupancy vehicles on the Centenary Highway, the Logan Motorway and the Ipswich Motorway at peak hours when traffic slows to a frustrating crawl.

I wouldn't agree with him  that the station was helping industrial area.... Every station in industrial areas has notoriously now patronage

ozbob

Carole Park has its own residential area.

The residential developments have started at Ellen Grove.

I think it is time that Ellen Grove station was constructed.  Would be a relief valve to Richlands and Springfield.

There probably is a better thread for this, but I think the Ellen Grove station should now be built on the Springfield Line. I would also recommend that the Ipswich line be converted to all-day express, at least during weekdays.

It would certainly qualify for some of that Commonwealth Car Park funding the Audit Office investigated.  :) :)

As part of the construction, it is essential that pedestrian access be made to the Carole Park industrial precinct as there are many tech, engineering, logistics and pharmaceutical industry jobs clustered there. Job ads often have written that candidates must have a car as no access to PT...

Is it worth raising Ellen Grove railway station with stae members and the minister, now there's an election in the air? .

It's more than eight years on, and there doesn't appear to be much political will to carry it out, though it's sitting there, waiting to be done. Compared to some projects, it seems like low-hanging fruit, or am I missing something?

I'm not convinced I have to say. What's the big benefit gained compared to the slowing of the service from Springfield? It's not a high density area, and if people are mostly driving anyway why not just drive to Richlands and not slow the train down?

There are more people around the proposed Ellen Grove Station than there are around Richland Station. I don't think the 1–2-minute slowdown will be the deal breaker that stops people from catching the train from Springfield and Springfield Central tbch.

Gazza

I dont mind a station there but it needs a rezoning of the suburb.

But then why have both? If most people are driving or getting a bus then why not just drive a couple of minutes further to Richlands and not have the huge expense and service impact of another station?

I am against adding infill stations in general unless they have a substantial walkable catchment.

I'll pretty much guarantee that will never happen.

The place that is zoned differently is Ripley Valley, which is why a station there is a much higher priority.
