For the first 14 days of June 2024 there have been 429 reported Citytrain service disruptions.

This is already greater than the average of 406 per month Jan to May 2024 ( https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=15542.0 ).

Major contributors so far are:

Signalling issues: 28.2%
Train fault: 18.2%
Emergency services 10.7%
Trespasser 9.8%
Lx strike 5.6%
Bridge strike 5.6%

Another stupid report from the CM bosses were arranged so no they were not told find your own way home it would have been pass to crew how long till a bus gets here crew not sure will be quicker to arrange a taxi or uber then omg we have to fend for our selves buses take time to get the driver in get the bus do the pre trips then hit the road and get there. Or hang on CM let's keep running trains over a broken rail and put the train in the dirt.

Cracked rail at Roma street just beyond the central end of P9. Some trains have terminated at Milton/South Brisbane to reduce congestion in the city.

That's the sector. It's not like the suburban network where you have Roma Street-Bowen Hills, Bowen Hills-Northgate, Northgate-Bald Hills etc but North of Caboolture they get longer and longer. There was to be a new feeder installed back in the 90's but that was to be done as part of CAMCOS where the spur was. So we know how that project is going. Also depending on what it was it can be easier and quicker to just deenergise the entire line for a short time rather than going through the entire process of isolating a particular section. It's not uncommon for the ohle to be switched off overnight for mtce, inspections etc. In this instance the issue happened when no trains were running at 2-3am. The first Nambour-City train started at Caboolture with no delays on the first City-Nambour service. Gympie North had no issues as there is no Saturday morning Gympie-Brisbane service.

I sure hope they've got lots of buses! I'm currently at Helensvale, where there's probably 300 people waiting to head north!

Wasn't a good day on the network today, over 30 reported Citytrain service disruptions so far.

Hits harder proportionally as well when no peaks.

Bus was not good for a Saturday too (presently 92 reported service disruptions)  ...

Missus went to town by Citytrain ex Goodna around midday, reported very good pax loadings none the less.

The Citytrain network has had a lot of service disruptions today and this evening.

The combination of 50 Cent Fares, Riverfire and Football has caused a lot of boarding delays, besides the other misc. causes. So far 52 reported service disruptions due to boarding delays.

Final figures to come.

Indeed it was a very passenger induced boarding delay. It was a mix of things but also passengers were actively contributing to boarding and disembarking issues. Mostly it was a combo of river fire and Suncorp people trying to board and disembark the one train along with people not moving down the trains (because they had other stops to get off at) and people not being able to exit platforms quickly which slowed services significantly. Simply not enough trains running all day and too many passengers.

Tennyson should have been utilised.

Milton had the problem of riverfire people not allowing football passengers off.
Southbank-South Brisbane had the problem of football fans not letting riverfire passengers off.
Central/roma street had the problem of both football and river fire passengers on all services not allowing each other off. Some strategic Rocklea-Milton via Tennyson/Corinda-South Brisbane via Tennyson and Milton terminators infill services could have helped shift some loading.

Maybe even a Bowen Hills loop via Sherwood/Tennyson/Yeerongpilly in both directions could have helped distribute the two loadings and provide extra infill capacity. If there was marketing material displaying the loop route or alternatives for transferring to help shift the loads and minimise the boarding delay times. Same platform transfers at Sherwood is possible so it wouldn't be that difficult to provide a quick interchange.

Sorry. Disagree. How about the state coughs up more funding for additional services and better marketing/passenger information. Nothing wrong with the two events being on at the same time providing proper organised management was in place which was not this case. Assets that could have been utilised wasn't and express running on longer lines with additional infill services closer to the city was not provided which further added to boarding delays. This is also where short infill services could terminate (eg Beenleigh exp south bank to moorooka) at Yeerongpilly and then run to Milton via Tennyson for the football load and vice versa where western services terminate at Sherwood run empty to Park Road/South Bank so a full empty train can move a full train load of passengers away quickly to another interchange location such as Roma street. Providing south brisbane/southbank/milton starters should have been implemented as has previously been done when large events have been on. Using P3 to stow services would be straight forward as too was running empties through central as what is already done during morning and afternoon peak hours.

Just wait for the olympics.
