App mentioned in the 10 News report above

Truckwiz Australian Navigation

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.roadwiz.tones.truckin&hl=en&gl=US

Promising ...  but the Government needs to afford more support to Queensland Rail.

There is only so much QR can do, penalties, education of operators and implementation of apps such as Truckwiz are really the realm of Government/DTMR.

Step up or step out!  :dntk

Oh no! 😯 An important reminder from our Traffic Response Officers to be aware of vehicle heights and bridge limitations! Also make sure you're travelling at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

Don't end up in a video like this, know the height of your vehicle and load, and plan your route ahead of time.

Sunshine Coast News --> 'About time': road reopens after intermittent repairs to rail bridge

QuoteA road closed for more than seven months has reopened, to the relief of locals.

A section of Brockhurst Road at Nambour was sealed off in late March after a rail bridge, 4.7m above it, was seemingly struck by the top of a truck.

An 8km section of rail line was closed for about a week and there were significant impacts to train services while crews worked to make essential repairs to the bridge.

Passengers were shuttled between Nambour and Yandina by bus, while some freight train services put their stock on trucks.

Once the bridge's foundations were deemed to be strong and safe enough, normal train services resumed.

But further repairs on the bridge continued for months and the road remained closed. Motorists detoured via Duhs Road, Image Flat Road, Nambour-Mapleton Road, Netherton Street and Zealey Road.

Brockurst Road eventually reopened on Wednesday, October 25. ...

You can see that it was a beam strike in the clip above.

There were no reported Citytrain service disruptions due to a vehicle striking a bridge yesterday.

Beams did their job!

Only had time to look at headline which says bridge.

The media finds it too difficult to differentiate between protection beams and the actual bridge.

Every bridge strike report I check first if it has beams.

" ... Queensland Rail Executive General Manager of Assets Sarah Dixon said the spate of bridge and protection beam strikes between Monday 15th April and Tuesday 16th April was worrying.

"Nine hits in 48 hours due to careless driving is shocking and frustrating," Dixon said.

"Thankfully, only one of these was a vehicle striking one of our rail bridges, the remaining eight incidents saw vehicles strike protection beams, stopping them in their tracks before they could damage a rail bridge.

"Thanks to protection beams in place at these locations, the impacts to rail services were minimal.

"Each protection beam strike would have been a bridge strike if we hadn't had this important infrastructure in place. ... "

Margaret Street is at the intersection of Woombye-Palmwoods Road. This is one site location, not two.
That's an error on the QR website or perhaps they mean both sides of the one bridge which is a possibility.

They should add protection to the rail bridge at Morayfield - William Berry Drive / Visentin Road connection. It's a common strike occurrence location.
