I can't see anybody going for it.  The ALP will never spook the unions, the Greens don't believe in it and also believe in silly things like $1 fares for 100km+ trips, the LNP don't give a sh%t about public transport and are too heavily weighted to regional voters, KAP is the same as the LNP but more pronounced.  We don't have a party in Queensland that treats urban policy with any logic so there is no impetus to fix anything.

As patronage fell, and road congestion lessened due to COVID-19 restrictions OTR improved!   

I cannot recall all regions being above the target before.  Silver lining of sorts ...

Less traffic too

Cashless fares helped no doubt.  But simply not much traffic and buses not stopping as frequently, fewer passengers helps to run on time.

Similar to Citytrain in terms of OTR.

It would be good if they stick with cashless fares and keep rear door boarding as an option as well.

The double leaf rear doors on the new Optimus' being delivered to BT currently will help immensely with this and give more of an argument to continue this practice (particularly at key stops/stations).

SEQ Bus on-time running updated

17th September 2020

With the publication of the 4th Quarter data for financial year 2019-20 ( https://translink.com.au/about-translink/reports-and-publications/performance )  we have updated on-time running performance for the SEQ bus regions.

For the first time ever all regions have performed better than the target 90% for a quarter. On-time buses are those within six minutes after or two minutes before the scheduled arrival time.

The introduction of cashless fares, less passengers travelling, reduction in road traffic due to COVID-19 restrictions have all contributed to the improved on-time performance.  Rear door boarding is also a factor.

Southern, back in the cellar ... 

As M1 congestion becomes progressively worse, so does southern region OTR. About time the busway to Springwood was completed, but I guess spending $billions on projects for vehicles with an average occupancy of 1.1 is more important.

Yes, it is not the best.  But honest I think.  I have my doubts about some of the others to be frank.

I must seek to find out how the bus OTR is being determined these days. Once upon a time it was done by a ' sampling exercise ' at some timing points on some routes, and operator self reporting.  It was nonsense.  If they are now using the real-time data to determine the OTR that would be a lot more accurate.

Southern at the bottom of the pile again, as usual. Translink reviewed most of the Logan route timetables not too long ago, but refused to fix the on-time running issues because it would have required more resources. So they fiddled with a couple of timings here and there to make it look like they achieved something, but the results say otherwise.

Does anyone know why Northern is so high while everything else is sitting around 90%? Is it a newer timetable?

This is how the OTR is determined according to information on the Translink Performance Dashboard at https://translink.com.au/about-translink/reports-and-publications/performance

I have my doubts about the accuracy overall of the OTR. It is just a sample.  I have made requests to have Translink explain in detail how the bus OTR is determined but they seem reluctant to tell me.  Until they do that I don't have much confidence in the data.

You would think with the go card system being on all buses they would be able to reliably determine OTR from that.  Seems too hard.  Maybe with the new ' smart ticketing ' we might see improved assessment of bus OTR. 

As it is, I would not put too much faith in it.

^ still valid.  Still waiting for Translink to explain to me how bus OTR is really determined. 
I think is largely inaccurate to be honest.
