The 17.49pm Cleveland service is now apparently a permanent 3 car service change?

Any comments?

I have received some reports of overloading as a result ..

*wandering back in from oblivion...*

Hi all,

I asked a staff member at Central yesterday and they informed me, either by mistake or if it's true, that the 17:47 Cleveland express is now a 3 car service, it also appeared on the PIDS as a 3 car service, although last night it was a 6 car set, with announcements that it was going to be a 6 car set (the pax were on the platform getting ready to board as if it's a 3 car set).

It's been a 3 car set for a number of weeks the time in recent times that I have caught it, previously it was always without fail a 6 car set.  Obviously now it's carrying about a 3/4 6 car set load into a 3 car set when this service is running as a 3 car.

After last night, I'm utterly confused, and so are the passengers from what I saw.

Sounds like there are not enough trains to go around again!

Possible.  All stopping (referring to Bowen Hills-Northgate) ties up more rollingstock.

A possibility would be making this run express.  It would leave the bypassed stations with a 17 minute gap.

Of course, this would impact on the counter peak service due to the precision crosses.

Which is not acceptable.

It is according to their standard!  It's only 2 minutes off the 15 minute standard; are the 2 minutes really that big of a deal?

In fact, this service is already express Park Rd-Manly.  Doh!  So, unless they are going to miss Manly and/or Lota, express isn't really an option here.

As a result of the initial reports Queensland Rail are monitoring this service and one of our members went on it last week as well to check it out.  Last week there was no overloading, all seats generally taken but still standing room.

Yes. If all Ipswich and Caboolture Line stations are served every 12 minutes, then I'm sure Nundah and Toombul residents would not appreciate a 17 minute service gap, whilst 18tph bypass their stations!

I think you are confusing posts in two threads there.

Would 15 minutes

You've confused two threads, but the 17 minute gap is there, and also conforms to Translink's standard.  I think it is a very small issue on our network.  I'd prefer it was reduced to 15 minutes, of course!
