Sunshine Coast/Caboolture line delays - effective 19 March 2010

QR has advised TransLink that the Caboolture train line between Caboolture and Narangba is expected to be closed until 4pm until the damage is repaired.

Train services have been changed on this line due to a freight train fire this morning at 2.10am which damaged overhead lines between Burpengary and Narangba.

Buses will continue to replace trains between Caboolture and Narangba.

One wonders whether QR isn't communicating with TransLink - or whether TransLink is just incompetent.

If you were relying on the TransLink website, you would assume that things are going to be okay when you head home from work.  This is obviously not the case!

Sunshine Coast/Caboolture line delays - effective 19 March 2010

Passengers travelling on the Caboolture train line should allow an extra half-hour travel time this afternoon.

One northbound line will be open from 4pm this afternoon, allowing all Nambour and Gympie North services to run as per normal timetable.

QR has advised TransLink that trains on the Caboolture line, north of Petrie are suspended until the overhead power line damage on the southbound track is fully repaired.

Buses will continue to replace trains between Caboolture and Petrie stations, servicing Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba and Dakabin stations, in both directions during this afternoon's peak period.

Train services have been suspended on this line due to a fire in a locomotive this morning at 2.10am which damaged overhead lines between Burpengary and Narangba.

Shudder...  Incoming 4+ Derwan scale loads on the Nambour trains (to Caboolture) this afternoon.

Nambour trains are usually 3-3.5ish to Caboolture, then down to 2.5 north of Caboolture.  Can't say for the normal loads of the Gympie train though.

A train park between Caboolture and Landsborugh this evening.  Freights parked at every station.

Boarded a 6-car IMU around 6pm at Caboolture, which came into Caboolture only to see people battling for seats and other people pushing/shoving to get off at the same time.

Train left Caboolture with all seats taken in the back 3 carriages (door-hopping).  Will assume it's the same case for the front 3-cars.  There were a few standees (about 2-3) around each door.

Roma St station evacuated

COURTNEY TRENWITH

A fire in a toilet has caused the evacuation of Roma Street train station.

Passengers are being cleared from the station and no trains are stopping there, although they are still travelling through the station, a TransLink spokesman said.

Two toilet rolls were set alight in a station toilet about 2pm, a Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said.

Two fire brigades attended the scene and quickly extinguished the fire, the spokeswoman said.

It is not known when the station will reopen.
