Hmmm true, it is surprising to see how many passengers try again and again at the same reader, not even switching sides at the rear doors when one is not working. TTA really should implement a process where drivers must check each morning and if a certain reader is not working put a "non operational" sleeve over it.

The drivers console does loudly beep when there is an error touch, so they are usually aware and patient when there is an error (that is if the machine is powered at all!)

The AVVM's have a much higher fail rate than the old TVM's.

The classic one is when they say, "No coins, correct fare only."  This is no doubt because of a problem with the coin system so it can't take coins or give out change, but it leaves the machine virtually useless as far as buying tickets is concerned.
