As Deputy Director-General (TransLink) you will play an integral leadership role for the Department of Transport and Main Roads in shaping the vision of the organisation, and ensuring the department is a properly functioning public sector organisation to facilitate the delivery of effective and sustainable transport infrastructure and outcomes for Queensland. In the role of Deputy Director-General (TransLink) you are the accountable executive/head of discipline for the department's state-wide delivery of integration of all modes of public transport across Queensland and the management of contracts for the delivery of these services. You will be responsible for leading the Passenger Transport Integration and Passenger Transport Services Branches to deliver a safe, efficient and integrated public transport service in Queensland.

Accountabilities include:

Financial

• The role is accountable for an annual operating budget of $2.7 billion, a revenue budget of $451 million and oversees an establishment of approximately 552 employees.

• Conduct a comprehensive review of the TransLink fare structure to determine the optimum fare strategy which will boost patronage and deliver sustainable fair revenue.

• Achieve operational savings and value for money through the renewal of service delivery.

Stakeholder and outcome

• Improve, expand, renew and re-prioritise the range of passenger transport services throughout Queensland to better meet customer and stakeholder needs.

• Manage the contracts for service provision of public transport services of bus contracts and rail services in-house.

• Deliver major projects on-time and within budget across all aspects of bus and rail such as the Next Generation Ticketing (NGT), New Generation Rolling Stock (NGR), and Real Time Information on Public Transport.

• Manage the introduction of new technology to improve passenger transport services, including real time passenger information, as well as roll-out ticketing options to improve public transport accessibility for people with a disability.

• Administer the legislative and regulatory framework, service investment and standards for passenger transport, including taxi, limousines, long distance coaches, buses, rail, ferry (except BCC ferries) and air services within Queensland.

• Authoritatively represent the Director-General and interests of the department at Senior Executive and sector wide committees, boards and forums; and develop and enhance liaison with key industry and peak body organisations to ensure alignment of the department's infrastructure management and delivery agenda.

Internal business

• As a key member of the Senior Leadership team, actively participate in the Department's Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to support the Director-General by providing strategic leadership and direction to the Department. Work collegiately with other ELT members in discussions and deliberations and championing new corporate initiatives.

• Provide strategic and authoritative advice and information to the Minister and the Director-General in relation to public transport and contract management.

• Drive the performance of the division to shape its long term strategic direction, establish operational plans, manage resources (people, financial, physical and technological) and achieve performance objectives.
