SERVICE DISRUPTIONS

QR is experiencing service disruptions on the NORTH COAST line due to POLICE INCIDENT. Delays of up to 1 HOURS can be experienced.

BUSES are being arranged to operate between GLASSHOUSE MT and LANDSBOROUGH.

Trains cancelled after bomb threat

A bomb threat threw Sunshine Coast railway services into chaos yesterday afternoon.

Police and Queensland Rail said they responded to ?anonymous threats? against the Sunlander train, which runs between Brisbane and Cairns.

Two services, northbound and southbound, were halted about 2.30pm at Beerwah and at Babinda in north Queensland.

Both trains were evacuated. ?All services were suspended on the North Coast line,? a QR spokesman said yesterday.

However, the Coast line was re-opened about 5.10pm.

Police said the Sunlander was still at Beerwah station at 7.30 last night. They said the passengers were being looked after by QR, but had no further details.

A QR spokesman said five Coast passenger services were affected during the stoppage.

?Trains were stopped at Beerwah with buses running from Beerwah to Glasshouse Mountains,? he said.

Police said the Sunlander trains were evacuated as a precaution.

They said passengers at Babinda boarded their train again and the line was re-opened about 4.30pm.
