Locations with insufficient readers

#1: Park Rd platform #1, main exit.  This only has one reader.  There is another further along the platform but this is not exactly convenient for people accessing the concourse.  Even the nearer reader isn't very convenient either.  How about one actually at the base of the stairs?
#2: Indooroopilly platform 1/2 subway stairs.  Currently has two readers, but needs two more facing outwards.

I expect Milton and Park Rd platform 2/3 arrangements are also insufficient.

Landsborough Station has only 1 at the north end exit ramp to the bus stop area.
People queue alongside the train and force passers-by into the yellow danger zone as the train pulls out.

Nerang Station, particularly the southern stairs.  Amplified by the fact that Gold Coast trains tend to empty out their passengers in larger volumes at each stop than on other lines.

Mind you, fare gates are coming downstairs (apparently with the ticket office being retained on the platform  :conf).

I think Park Rd platform 2/3 actually does have two readers, one on either side of the stairs. But yes, the single reader near the stairs on platform one is an issue. It may have been ok before the addition of of busway and Ecosciences precinct, but it could certainly do with a second reader there.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Fairly sure that it doesn't.

I can't believe there is only 1 reader on platforms 2/3 at the eastern end of Darra station. I had to top up my Go Card just as the 5.43pm express to Ipswich was arriving at about 5.40pm today. Then I joined the queue of about 30 people waiting to touch off. I waited at least 2 minutes. In that time the 5.43pm Ipswich service departed - about a minute early I might add. The PID then displayed that the next service to Ipswich was due to depart on time in 15 minutes.  :thsdo

Thanks ozbob. I'll know for next time. I thought the several people waiting near the lift were actually waiting for the lift. I wonder how many of the 30 or so in the queue know about the reader near the lift. Those that do must prefer to queue rather than walk over to the reader near the lift.

There clearly is a demand for another reader 2-3 metres from the exising one near the top of the stairs.

Mentioning things they've fixed up, not sure when they put it in but the exit to South Bank station platform 1 closest to South Brisbane now has a second reader. Very much appreciated.

I used Oxley for the first time in ages...Definitley need a second at the subway exit on platform 1/2.

Northgate now has a 3rd reader at the bottom of the stairs at platform 1/2.  (There might be a 3rd one at 3/4 too but I was rushing to get on the train.)

Let's hope they introduce new readers at other stations!

Bowen Hills could do with a change. Had to use it with the FG line closure the other weekend, while theres 2 readers at the exit we had to use, one is at the bottom of the stairs and the other is at the top meaning there was a big queue for the bottom reader and no one using the top reader. The top reader appeared to be mostly for thsoe using the lift, but I think it would be better to have both readers up the tops to reduce queuing.

As of Monday, we will be moving from 4 static readers (2 at northern stairs, 1 at southern stairs, 1 at lift) to 10 gates (6 for northern stairs and lift, 4 for southern stairs).  The ticket machine has already been moved downstairs, although there appears to be no way to buy a go card without buying a paper ticket first to enter the paid area.

Darra platform 1 main exit still has only one reader, for some reason the majority of people use this exit then walk up the footpath rather than the exit at the western end of the platform near the car park, although provision has obviously been made for the second reader at this exit it has not been provided and the queues and delays are at times significent.

Bowen hills is ment to be getting gates (soon?) so I doubt anything will be getting done about the readers.

Do you mean the tart up program?  Why wouldn't something be done about it then.  It's not changing for CRR unless I am mistaken.

maybe the process should chnage so when a station is renovated etc, all the designers, architects, engineers and people involved have there names and numbers put up on a sign. I know at UQ a similar thing happens.

Anyone else seen the new style readers on TransLink's latest ads (on CM website)? Has anyone seen them in reality?

Oooh - orange.  They look cool.  (I had to disable AdBlock to actually see the ad.)

It looks like the offspring of a bus reader and one of the orange stickered train station readers. Not bad though. But to answer the question, nope I haven't seen one like that anywhere.

They are part of an advertising campaign by TransLink.  They are not real, just kooky animations which have been created by an advertising media company.

There's a bunch of videos which has been created by that company with those exact same readers as displayed in the advert.  Must admit, in a way it's bit of a stretch with the advertising, the real readers look nothing like the ones the animation company have come up with.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind seeing a real life mock up of those readers depicted in the ad and the educational videos on the TL website.

An additional reader has been installed at the eastern end of platforms 2/3.  :)
