Normal work routines are starting to kick in, many people moving over to the go.

Might be useful to document any significant queuing for touching cards.  Have all ready noted queues forming at the main stairs Oxley platforms 1/2 (only one reader) as the peak PM trains come through.

One of the advertising lines for the go card is the absence of queuing in obtaining tickets ...  touching is not mentioned ...

Beerwah and Landsborough Station still needs more readers.  Usually see a line for the "single" reader at each exit at those stations in the afternoon peak.

Unless stated otherwise, Opinions stated in my posts are those of my own view only.

QuoteThis is becoming an issue at Burpengary in the afternoons.  The exit from the platform on the down side is very close to where people have to go to use the over bridge to get to the main car park.  Now because there are more people using the readers to touch off, they are blocking the access to the over bridge and this is causing a few problems for those who want to get up and over the bridge to get away quickly to beat the back up of traffic leaving the parking area.

I've resorted to standing at the very last door when heading home - so I'm closest to the reader when exiting.  It's a bit more crowded here than the 3rd last door - but at least I don't have to wait in the queue at the southern end of platform 2 at Boondall.

Petrie is becoming even more dangerous than before. One outbound train pulls in to platform 1 in afternoon peak, and the queueing for the two readers is very, very long. And then when another pulls in 5 minutes later (yes, some users are queuing for up to and over 5 minutes to touch their cards off), it's very, very dangerous. I'm somewhat concerned someone could end up getting falling and ending up on the tracks or something similar.

Is anyone else 'LoiterGoing'?

Is that correct?  Up to an hour??  Typo?

Is petrie still under construction??

Oops, yes, it should have said 5 minutes.

That'll teach me to multitask! LOL

Still, 5 minutes is not too cool.   Expect to see  rising grief on the delays when touching off ...

Nyet. It finished some time ago. Which has confused me even more.  :-\

I've been commuting from Elimbah lately and TL/QR have made an opened up an exit on Platform 1 (the eastern one, inbound platform) down to Rose Creek Road. Much to my surprise, sticky-taped onto the steel girder right at the exit is a sign placed inside a clear plastic document wallet advising passengers to use the readers at the main entry on Platform 2 - and a new reader will appear at this new entry/exit in the 'new year'.

Nice to know TL have their priorities set right.  :-w

QuoteWhen I had a paper ticket I could just walk off the train at Eagle Junction station and walk past the long queue of Go Card holders who all have to line up and tag off one at a time at the solitary terminal. Now I've been forced by the fare increases into the Go Card like many others and the queue is now twice as long, sometimes a hundred people get off the train in peak hour (as many others are like me now on the Go Gard). It really should be renamed the Slow Card, I'm still in the line to tag off when I'd be half way home with a paper ticket in my hand. How did such slow and unsuited technology get accepted and implemented in the first place ??

Then when I get home I have to log on to the Go Card site just to make sure the thing hasn't overcharged me, and when it has, I have to make a phone call to get it fixed.... so much for progress, its a cruel joke on all of us, I cant wait for next election day, to have my say about this.

It was interesting at Oxley this evening.  I was almost excited at the prospect as we headed home on the late running overloaded Ippy flyer.  Yes, at Oxley the queue was around 20 metres at the one reader on the main stairs on platform 1/2.  I touched off at the end reader near the lift.

Yes, can see a few punters getting increasingly irate as time passes ...

Quote25 people lined up at Eagle Junction this afternoon to touch off, at Burpengary more congestion on the down platform due to people lined up to use the readers blocking others trying to use the stairs for the overhead bridge and about 5 ahead of me and 25 behind me on the up platform to go to the other car park / pick up area  (and this was the tail end of the line as I usually wait to get an idea of how things are going).

Came through the Roma St main gates at around 8.10am this morning, short queues but manageable.  Problem is difficult for someone to come on against the peak flow.  This needs further work.

Train from Sherwood yesterday (Thursday) morning running late & severely overcrowded, must have been at least one more arrived Roma St at same time as pandemonium getting out through the gates. Some queues 6-8 deep, anyone trying to get through against the flow would have been at risk of being swept away. Meanwhile, those with paper tickets, or cheats with no tickets at all, were able to stream through unhindered, as no T/O's or QR staffers manning the gates to give the usual curosry glance at whatever piece of paper is waved vaguely in their direction. I thought the whole point of this system was to speed things up for GO (?) card users...?  ???
Outbound, Sherwood isn't one of the busiest stations on the network so no dramas there. Graceville, however, with one exit, two machines, and I'd estimate some nights upward of 30 de-training passengers, is looking increasingly chaotic. Definitely a need for more readers there.

Jon Bryant

Morningside getting worse every day.  Que of 20 or more and that is with 2 readers.

STB

Spotted a new reader being installed at Morningside (Cleveland bound platform) this morning.

Emmie

The longest queue I've yet seen at Sandgate station this afternoon from the train arriving just before 5pm.  The train wasn't particularly crowded, so it must be much worse later in the peak period.

Jon Bryant

Third reader in use tonight and vastly reduced the queing...slowly but surely.

new reader at northern stairs at manly, Translink has been reading my posts ;D
"Where else but Queensland?"

rob2144

There was a queue of around 20 at Milton on Monday on Pl4

Emmie

Still a queue during peak hours, but I think at Sandgate the queue is moving faster these days - as more people become accustomed to touching off, they take less time to do it.

Derwan

Problems arise when people want to check their fare and/or balance when they touch - or even just to confirm their touch.  With the screen difficult to read, it often takes a second or two.

I'm now in the habit of reaching forward and not stopping when I touch - even if I'm reaching behind by the time I hear the beep.

The "stoppers" probably feel bad about holding people up - but people should be able to check their fare/balance without feeling bad.  We need more readers.

I try to go smoothly but won't progress until I see the correct fare displayed - yesterday at roma street I saw one of the gates error showing a "gate forced open" error when there were quite a few people lined up trying to get through the gates.

Sitting at Milton Station one day last week, inbound in morning peak hour. Outbound train on opposite platform pulled out, to reveal approx 40-ish (quick guess as we'd started moving off as well) people queueing at both exits to touch off at the ?one/two? readers at each. Speeding up public transport...?  ??? Must be a nightmare on Bronco's game nights.

Mozz

It's actually not too bad at big games at suncorp as your game ticket allows you free travel. BUT Milton could do with quite a few more readers, the bridge concourse doesn't even have a single one from memory.

That's correct.  All the readers are on the platforms.  It's a bit of a strange way of doing it.  I think platform 4's towards Suncorp exit could have a single reader too.

Mozz

Yes only one reader on the main platform leading to suncorp stadium

Roma Street is/was getting three extra gates installed yesterday where the paper ticket entrance was.
