New Route 462/465/466 timetable - http://translink.com.au/resources/travel-information/services-and-timetables/timetables/110124_462,465,466.pdf

QuoteFrom 24 January 2011 stage one of a new train line to Springfield will be completed and operational. This stage of the project includes a new train station at Richlands, interim train services to and from the station and connecting bus services. The interim train timetables  will run until further network changes are introduced in the first half of 2011.

Two new local bus routes will be introduced to provide dedicated connections to trains from Richlands Station, these being:

- Route 465 (Heathwood to Richlands), with some short trip route 465 (Forest Lake Shops to Richlands) services

- Route 466 (Willawong to Richlands)

Existing routes 460 (Forest Lake to City) and P461 (Forest Lake to City) will also provide services to the station precinct and will service existing on-street bus stops at 'Progress Corner', approximately 200 metres walk from the station, on Garden Road.

Selected services on existing route 462 (Darra to Forest Lake) will continue to run to Darra Station when there are no through running CBD trains available from Richlands Station.

Residents are invited to attend the opening of the new station on Sunday 23 January, from 10am-2pm, and try the new bus services for free. Find out more about the Richlands train station opening.

Route 465 (Heathwood to Richlands) and 465 (Forest Lake Shops to Richlands) – all stops

Route 465 is a completely new route. The service runs seven days a week, throughout the day, and provides a dedicated bus to train connection for Heathwood, Doolandella and Forest Lake. The bus will meet selected through running CBD trains and will stop and terminate inside the Richlands Station interchange. This route does not meet the last inbound train service on Saturdays (11.17pm) and outbound rail shuttles, Monday to Friday, at 6.16am and 5.21pm from Richlands.

Since Richlands is the start of the train line, passengers travelling on route 465 will have a more comfortable journey as more seats will be available.

Please refer to the journey planner or the route Route 465 timetable for more information.

Very nice, what a perfectly drawn route, just straight down Forest Lake Blvd, with clean 5 minute connections between the bus and train.
Frequency might not be the best on the train line, and it's a bit dissapointing in the off peak only every second train has a bus feeding it, hopefully when the permanent rail timetable comes online they will fix that.

WTN

The feeder services look pretty good - just the frequency is a bit of a letdown. Offpeak, the 465 meets every train, the 466 every second train. The 462 is mostly a peak service only though.

Media release 11 January 2011

SEQ: Richlands railway station opening, two important things missing

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has welcomed the opening of the Richlands rail station on the 23rd of January 2011, with the regular rail services commencing on the 24th January 2011 (1).

"The opening of the Richlands railway station will mark the beginning of a rail extension to Springfield."

"Rail Back on Track has previously called for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) feeder buses to Richlands station to make public transport a real option for residents of Forest Lake, Doodanella, Ellen Grove and Inala (2). High frequency buses to rail have been shown to be critically important in collecting patronage, such as in Perth (3) and also supports Transit Oriented Development (TOD) (4).  Without these, we believe patronage will be lower than it could be. The new bus routes to feed Richlands railway station from nearby suburbs are very welcome."

"It is disappointing that a track closure from Corinda to Rosewood coincides with the open day at Richlands railway station on the 23rd January 2011 and which means rail services will not be running for the opening. The arrangements for shuttle bus on the day will however allow access to the new station."

"The lack of a direct bus service from Springfield to Richlands railway station is of concern however.  A bus route replicating the Springfield railway line would allow a much more direct access for residents of the greater Springfield area into the rest of the public transport network at Richlands railway station, rather than bus via Goodna railway station."

"We have been close observers of the Darra to Richlands railway project for many years, and congratulate all at the construction team on a job very well done!"

Why is the 466 (Richlands-Willawong) route needed?  Just extend the 110 to Richlands and you achieve the same effect and cheaper.

All I can think of is to reduce dead running?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Credit where credit is due.  Arrangements where the 462 continues to run to Darra only when the 465 is meeting a non-CBD direct train seem reasonably logical.  Also, the 465 meeting every reasonable train, from first inbound to last outbound at least for trips as far as Forest Lake.  This is a big advance on TL's previous efforts for feeder buses from what I have noticed.

What's with the no weekday service of the 466 between 2:11pm and 5:20pm weekdays?  It doesn't apply on weekends!

I would guess that the reason for the existence of the 466 (vs 110 extension) would be reliability.  A missed connection would be very annoying with the half hourly frequency at Richlands.

I wonder if this system would be more attractive than the 460 for pax Richlands-Forest Lake?
