SEQ: Indooroopilly: Think Bus, Fill Train

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail
and public transport and an advocate for public transport passengers welcomes interest
in an Indooroopilly Bus-Rail interchange.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"By dividing the transport task between buses and trains, the frequency of buses can be
boosted and passenger waiting time can be slashed for little or no extra cost. Instead of
buses driving all the way to the CBD, often in Coronation Drive gridlock, buses can be
turned back at the train station to increase bus frequency near people's homes, cutting
waiting time."

"TransPerth, Western Australia has become a world leader in this field. The WA government
has built bus interchanges directly above train stations. Using identical trains to that
of Queensland Rail TransPerth trains outperform Queensland Rail on almost every metric -
frequency, connectivity, span of service, fares, cost recovery, and number of passengers
using the system."

"We need to follow Perth's lead - send buses to train stations. Only by doing this can
passengers get higher all day frequency near their homes for little or no extra operating
cost to the government."

"Our members' ideas on an Indooroopilly bus interchange appear in the link below.
