History repeating - public transport failure a harbinger for Government failure

Good Morning,

The Premier has said that 2016 will be a year of delivery?

Really ??

How about delivering fare reform?  It has been ALP policy since September 2014 to give concession fares to the unemployed.
Still waiting ...

How about delivering bus network reform? Bus network changes are apparently frozen.  Western region and Gold Coast buses particularly need improvements as does Brisbane region.  Children have been left behind at bus stops around Goodna, hardly satisfactory is it?  Constant late and no show bus services are making it very difficult for people to use and rely on public transport. Brisbane Transport cannot even meet the minimum on time standards. Do the authorities care?  Apparently not, they just let the mediocrity roll on.

TransLink has a new DDG - has anyone heard from him?  TransLink was made impotent under the Newman Government, seems still is.

The scourge of Bridge Strikes continue. Government seems frozen at the wheel unable to tackle the tough administrative controls that are needed.  Only a matter of time before there is a serious incident with possible loss of life and injury.  The constant disruption to the transport network, rail and road, is costly on many levels.  We have set a SEQ Bridge Strike Watch website to highlight this scourge. Something our couldn't care less Government could not do.

The Queensland Government seems to be replaying the worst years of the Bligh Government.  Rapidly losing touch with their core constituency by failing to properly acknowledge, listen and to deliver basic services that matter directly to punters!

You make your bed, you lie in it!  History repeating ..

Best wishes
Robert

Queensland: Labor - It isn't Working

Greetings,

We appear to have a State Government frozen at the wheel. Public transport improvement is moribund.

* SEQ Fare review still stalled.
* No action on bus reform. Our proposal is here --> http://tiny.cc/newnetwork since 2014.
* No action on the Sunshine Coast line mess (no, we do not count re-planning as an action).
* Cross River Rail is a mess, three video animations of various failed proposals so far (will there be a fourth?).
* No concession fares for unemployed, despite being ALP policy since September 2014.

Governments are elected to act. They are not there for the sake of just being there.

History has shown beyond doubt that the electorate is very sensitive towards detecting political theatre, political posturing, and stalling tactics.  They will not hesitate to quickly and decisively boot out a government that does not move on the issues.

Bus reform is low cost and quick to implement and should not be delayed further.

RAIL Back on Track is a politically neutral organisation. We are happy to work with the government of the day and assess policies on merit. We also have no hesitation to vigorously hold public administrations to account no matter what their political colour.

Best wishes
Robert
