Both the Seniors two journey daily cap, and the nine journey weekly cap are both easily rorted.
Other jurisdictions just have a simple flat fare for Senior, or free off peak.

Flat fares for Seniors are much more equitable.  Inner city residents find it easy to get up two paid journeys, others have to go the lengths I have demonstrated to achieve it.

Seniors on the Sunny Coast often take a day journey to Brisbane.  They might be inclined to pay for the first journey to Brisbane.  But if they then wait an hour and go for a one stop bus ride, or river crossing this will achieve the second paid journey.  Wait an hour they then can travel free for the rest of the day, including a free journey home.

Cooroy is zone 22

Normal concession fares:
Goodna to Cooroy - peak $10.71, return off peak $8.57 = $19.28

Using two go cards:

Fares coming in: $2.07 + $1.77 (primary go card) + $2.46 (secondary go card) = $6.30

So direct saving of $12.98 (67%)  also any further travel is free as well.  :bg:

Queensland Rail do an excellent job at managing the train congestion north of Beerburrum.

Yesterday we had two dances, Mooloolah and Nambour on the way to Cooroy, and one dance at Palmwoods heading back to Brisbane. A number of trains passed, long distance passenger trains, interurbans and freight trains.  It is a very busy line.

A dance is where the train either reverses backwards after arrival at the station, to move onto a passing loop to allow an oncoming train access to the station platform.  A variation is where the train is held in the loop and then reverses back onto the main line and then into the station or goes ahead to the main line and then reverses into the station. Dances can add 10 minutes to what should be a one minute stop.

Nambour needs another through platform.

The footbridge at Cooroy is rotting.  This is the only pedestrian access across the railway line and is a critical piece of infrastructure for the town.  Some termite damage/rot has been repaired by using concrete in the areas affected.  A real Queensland solution that one. They did the concrete repairs but failed to paint the rest of the wood so it continues to rot ...  one wonders at times.
