Around the network in one day

Today, I travelled the entire QR Citytrain network. Not entirely by train (Manly-Cleveland by bus, due to track work, but I did touch on/off at every extremity—Rosewood, Springfield Central, Gympie North, Kippa-Ring, Shorncliffe, Doomben, Ferny Grove, Varsity Lakes and Cleveland. I didn't include airport line because it's not QR network.

Unfortunately, I got hit with a fixed fare touching "off" at Cleveland, because it has directional gates and thought I touched on. I've submitted an adjustment request, so we'll see what happens.

So no Springfield line, Kippa-Ring, probably Sunshine Coast finishing at Nambour and I'm guessing no Gold Coast line either? It's a bigger network now.

Pity that the ICE was out.  I am not sure if the ICE is coming back. Anyone know?

Re GympieLander.  Those services will always be ' GympieLander ' to me  :P  IMU or aghast NGR

I did a tour of the Citytrain network Easter 2008 as part of the free travel using Go card for that time.

But I spread it over 4 days.

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but do you have any idea of how long it took you total? A roommate and I are thinking of trying this and want to see if we can manage to beat you time-wise

I started 4:28am and finished around 2am (roughly), don't remember the exact time. Would've been quicker, had it not been for the trackwork between Manly and Cleveland. I did know about the trackwork, and had planned to do that section earlier, but there was a fatality (RIP  :'(  :'(  :'( ) on the line that day.

I want to give it a go myself again one day, but next time I think I'm going to stay in Gympie overnight and start there, to avoid having to do the whole Gympie North-Petrie section twice. It's a long trip!

Jesus, that's a while! We were planning start at Gympie as well, and with any luck we reckon we can get the whole thing in about 14 hours (so ending at ~8pm)

Well that's a wrap, crazy to both see some RBOT members on Twitter and get interviewed by the ABC - definitely wasn't expecting the 2nd one starting off. Going to demolish some food on the GC, then a nice relaxing 2 hour journey home  :eo:

Well done, you beat my time by a long way.

Not sure when I'll have the opportunity to give it another go, maybe later this year. Not sure I can beat your time anyway but it was never really about time for me, I'd just like to give a try without trackwork or incidents.

Otto

I should try this starting from Cleveland. Sounds like a plan.. Retired now, so have plenty time to kill.
7 years at Bayside Buses
33 years at Transport for Brisbane
Retired and got bored.
1 year at Town and Country Coaches and having a ball !
