Sunshine Coast Line : Delays for JUNE 2012

June delays thus far ... to SC commuters.

The times reported below do not take into account the 3 minutes and 59 second allowance that QR's service contract to TRANSLink allows.
Further to this contractual allowance, TRANSLink allow trains from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts to be 6 minutes late before being recorded as such.

In my opinion, when the public hear the words "on-time performance" they would assume this means what it says.
But for TRANSLink, the authority tasked with overseeing the public transport system, this is NOT the case and 'spin' is used to obfuscate the truth by changing the definition of 'on-time'.

A Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast train e.g. can be up to 6 minutes late and still be considered 'on-time'.
This of course does wonders for their on-time performance figures.
The times shown below are actual times.

UPDATED DAILY
Before the June 6, 2011 timetable 'improvements', a trip from Palmwoods to Roma Street station, a distance of 97.3 km, took 103 minutes.
Average speed = 56.68 km/h

Today that same trip takes 109 minutes.
Average speed = 53.56 km/h

A 5.83% increase in journey time.

Total time lost (TTL) in June 2012 = 218 minutes (that's over 3 & 1/2 hours)  Subtracted 3 minutes for early arrival on 20/06/2012.
Average = 11.47 minutes every week day (19 in the month to date)
June 2012 - Toilets out of order or locked = 10x in 38 journeys = 26.3% of my services had toilets that were out of order or locked or not on the train.

FARES_FAIR'S NOTES:
QR do remarkably well, especially given the infrastructure they have to work with, and their people are second to none (mostly - except where pax aren't informed on issues)

Any early arrivals are subtracted from the total time, even if only 1 minute early whilst late arrivals of less than 2 minutes are not added to these times.
These times are NOT rounded up, and must pass the 2:00 mark up to 2:59 to be recorded as 2 minutes late.

AUGUST 2011 =      295 minutes
SEPTEMBER 2011 = 184 minutes
OCTOBER 2011 =    110 minutes
NOVEMBER 2011 =  204 minutes
DECEMBER 2011 =    46 minutes   

JANUARY 2012 =     132 minutes
FEBRUARY 2012 =   311 minutes = New TTL record
MARCH 2012 =        132 minutes
APRIL 2012 =          145 minutes
MAY 2012 =              62 minutes
JUNE 2012 =           218 minutes

Total =                   1839 minutes (30.650 hours) in 11 months

Total Time Lost (TTL) 11 MONTH AVERAGE = 167.18 minutes (2 hours 47 minutes 11 seconds) each month
Toilet Facilities Available 6 MONTH AVERAGE = 24.8% of my services had toilets that were out of order or locked or not on the train

So approximately 8 minutes lost per day due to unreliability + 12 minutes lost per day due to timetabled slow downs, at least based on your figures.

These records, now in their 12th month, are just a 'snapshot' of the services I catch.

Toilet facility records are now in their 7th month.

Any times late of less than 2 minutes are not recorded as late, but noted as within 2 minutes of timetable.
Arrival exactly on time within the minute noted as e.g. 'Arrived Central on time'

29 June 2009 timetable showed 93-99 minutes in the AM, 93-98 in the PM (ignoring the 18:07 train taking 102 minutes) for Central-Palmwoods.

Your 103 minutes Palmwoods-Roma St was actually the worst morning train and second worst evening train.
