We are working to improve our eRail notification system to ensure we always provide you with the most accurate and timely information. ERail alerts will be switched off from today while an improved, replacement system is developed. We will let you know as soon as the new system is ready. In the meantime, please refer to www.translink.com.au for the latest service information. You can also follow us on twitter at www.twitter.com/queenslandrail or on Facebook at www.facebook.com.au/queenslandrail (sic).

Why on earth would they switch off a service while they develop a new one?  How long will it take to develop the new one?  Why not continue with the current system until the new one is ready?  This is ridiculous!!

There are a lot of issues with erail in terms of the systems being used.  Apparently has got to the point where they are going to move to more active social media as I understand it.

I don't have an issue with "moving forward", however to switch off a working system prior to the development of a new one defies logic.  If they have an issue with the current system, develop a new system and then REPLACE the current system with the new one!

That's a good way of paying comms wordsmiths more to filter the free flow of information. Information that was once more direct, now through a communications boffin who will likely filter the message much the same way that no detail is given for 'police incidents'
