Mains/Pinelands/Calam Rd Transit Lane

Why does this not exist already?

I was wondering this during my trip along it this afternoon.

There is an absolute crapload of buses using this road (130, 133, 140, 141 etc.) and IIRC there are 3 lanes each way between the M3 and Compton Rd, leaving 2 lanes for general traffic.  It would be one of the smartest and cheapest things to be done for public transport in this corridor.

The only question I can think that would need to be asked is should it be a T2 or T3?

This would help speed the buses along this route (saving money) and make them more attractive to potential commuters as well.

Thoughts?

Google has this as already existing from just after Beenleigh Rd on the inbound only, and 24hr for the few hundred metres.

If it doesn't exist any more, then that would be because it has been removed.  Is Mains Rd council controlled or state?

#2
This map suggests that the part between Kessels Rd and the M3 is State controlled, the remainder is BCC.

That's a great link.  I needed to remove the double quotes though.

achiruel

OK I've fixed the link.

I'm not sure about the T3 i/b as I only did the outbound journey.

I think it would be a good idea to have both directions 24/7 though.

I am pretty sure there is an I/B T2/3 lane along Mains Rd, but it only applies in peak hour.

Google reckons it becomes 24hr for the last few hundred metres.  Is that not true any more?

Mr X

Do you mean the T2/3 queue jump lane for the M3?

Isn't that a transit inspection/police enforcment lane?

Mr X

Nope, it's a T3 queue jump lane, the police enforcement bay is on the side of the road

If "queue jump" is what you want to call it.

Last time I checked it goes to 24hr somewhere around Kessels Road? Just after I think.
