Upgrades to Narangba train station will be completed next week, with the $26 million price tag improving disabled access and adding 20 parking spaces at the station.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said Narangba was one of the 30 busiest stations in Queensland and expected it be even busier in the future.

``There is already 1500 people using this station per day,'' Mr Emerson said.

``And I expect it (number of commuters) to increase even more with these upgrades and future development.''

Despite the rapid growth of Narangba and nearby suburbs such as Dakabin, Mr Emerson said he felt 20 additional car parks, to make the total 380, was sufficient with the upgrades including a bicycle enclosure and a bus interchange.

``It is always a challenge trying to get to stations and a lot of people walk, ride their bike or find other ways. We've put disabled carparking spaces near the ramp as well,'' he said.

Queensland Rail chief executive Jim Benstead said he hoped the improved station, which included lifts and ramps, would lead to further investment in the area.

Project manager for the Narangba upgrade Andrew Gibson said the upgrades, which started in February 2012, would be completed by June 12.

``The platform has been raised which allows wheelchair access straight on the train and minimises the gap,'' Mr Gibson said.
