QR appoints new head of Passenger business

QR continues to bolster its management capability with the appointment of Paul Scurrah as

Executive General Manager of its Passenger business.

Paul, who joined QR on Monday 26 May, brings a wealth of experience in the tourism and

travel industries where he worked in a number of senior executive roles.

Most recently he worked for Roamfree Group where he was Chief Executive Officer of its

Travel Online division.

QR Chief Executive Officer Lance Hockridge said he was pleased to welcome an executive of

Paul's calibre to QR to run a business experiencing significant growth.

"QR's Passenger business is the largest public transport operator in Queensland's fast

growing south-east corner, handling almost 59 million passenger journeys last financial year,"

Mr Hockridge said.

"At the helm of the business he will lead the transformation of the product range of urban

transport, long distance services and tourist trains.

"His is one of a number of senior management appointments I have made to ensure we have

the right blend of operational excellence and commercial acumen to better meet the needs of

customers and achieve our vision of leadership in the transport and logistics markets."

Paul's previous positions include Managing Director of AOT Holidays, Executive General

Manager - Strategy of Flight Centre, Executive General Manager - Commercial with Tourism

Queensland, and General Manager - Customer Support division with Ansett Airlines.

Prior to that he worked for Qantas in corporate sales and American Express in sales.

In 2003 he was awarded the Australian Institute of Management's 'Young Manager of the

Year' award for Queensland and the Northern Territory.

At American Express Paul was awarded the Presidents Club Award for the top performing

sales individual in the Asia/Pacific Region and led the successful global bid for BHP's

corporate card and corporate travel account.

He replaces Andy Taylor, who has made a significant contribution to the business and QR over

the last seven years and will assist with the transition before leaving QR in July.

Lets hope that Mr Scurrah has big feet because although he might not have been all that tall Andy Taylor was no tall poppy and he has left a fretty large pair of shoes to fill, time will tell if he is as we hope he will be up to the task.

Media Release 27 May 2008

Queensland:  Thank you Mr Andy Taylor

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport users has thanked Mr Andy Taylor QR for his valuable contributions to the passengers of QR Limited.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

?QR has announced the appointment of Mr Paul Scurrah as Executive General Manager of its Passenger business.  Congratulations Mr Scurrah.  Mr Andy Taylor was in this position and RAIL Back On Track acknowledges the valuable contributions made by Mr Taylor to the passengers of QR Limited.?

?Mr Taylor has been particularly noticed by rail passengers and RAIL Back On Track members as a committed manager who was prepared to go and meet with passengers at various stations around the network. Feedback was taken on board and where possible improvements made almost immediately, or collated for future consideration.?

?Change is inevitable in today?s transport and commercial environment.  Rail is surely entering a period of renaissance which we believe will rival the late 19th and early 20th century time of great railway expansion throughout Australia, and will again place railways as the key transport link for the nation.?

?Thank you Mr Taylor for your role in this renaissance!?
