We don't have a TOD thread, but this is of interest. Pity the train is 30 minutes.... LOL LOL
Not sure why Quirk was there trying to associate himself with the glow of the project. BCC doesn't fund rail - funds everything else though, buses, ferries, bicycles and toll roads. If it is on steel wheels and runs through the BCC area, they don't want to know about it! What did he do, tick the DA?

People are going to walk out of the TOD and realise that there is no 'T'. Should have developed around the busway...
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

SurfRail

Just another good reason for getting a 15 minute corridor going between Eagle Junction and Manly formed out of Doomben and Shorncliffe trains.

Anyone notice that the development does not integrate with the neighboring development so people walking to Cannon Hill railway station need to walk
out to Wynumn Rd before heading back to station.

Poor planning by BCC.

SurfRail

Just remember that Anthony John Group is going to be responsible for Southpoint (ie the development next to South Bank station).  Hopefully they do a better job with it.

I don't think there's any way that it can, as the entire eastern side of Southgate Avenue is occupied by private property.

I can't imagine too many people walking from there to the train.  And the bus service is woeful, so I'm guessing it's going to turn into just another car centric inner city development.  Unless Wynnum Rd BUZ happens sooner rather than later.

beauty of this development is that there will be increased patronage for the 590 to dfo where pax can also utilise the free service to the airport. No more ridiculous airtrain fares for residents.I think we would probably see the 590 jacked up to 15 min frequency and go through murrarie station then accross the gateway.Metroplex just down the road who`s owners must be jumping for joy. This really does push the great idea of running the 210 to metroplex(GCL deleted from this area of course)
Cannon hill plaza might also get a refurb.A quick buz service would take residents straight out to wynnum esplanade for a day at the beach..Potential new extension of the city cat services to murrarie/ hemmant.

I know im jumping the gun a bit ,but this definitely does have potential this area.

There are fantastic opportunities in this areas and the redevelopment of the ugly Cannon Hill Shopping Centre into a Mixed Use District Centre.  Just needs good urban design, permeable road nework (with bike lanes, etc).  Wynumn Road needs a BUZ and Bus Lanes as well.

Our city is in fact full a fantastic opportunites but our local Govt are not take the best advantage of them.
