Hmm, might be time to highlight the SC line?

Rail isn't an alternative ATM as the tilt train is no faster than the QR citytrain or cars.

Have a look at the picture in that Courier-Mail story and have a look at the speed sign - 110 km/hr, yet traffic is travelling around 30km/hr.   Premier Newman on television tonight saying he will take advice on increasing the speed to the Gold and Sunshine coasts.  If the speed limits went up from 100 km/hr to 110 km/hr, the vehicles will still move at a snail's pace during peak and holiday periods.  Of course, no mention of increasing speeds of the trains running to the coasts.  On the Sunshine Coast, that means modern trains capable of doing 130 km/hr having to slow to 50 km/hr to negotiate some bends.  LNP wants trains at 50 km/hr and cars at 110 km/hr.  Newman/Emerson have lost the plot -- it is about moving PEOPLE efficiently and quickly, not cars.

Congested roads usually point to more or bigger roads, not alternatives. Wait until the highway gets upgraded and speed limits increased. Then we might see the NCL (including Sunshine and Gold Coast lines) scrapped because they're so slow in comparison that no one uses it! The Gold Coast line would be sabotaged Sunshine Coast style in the lead up (100 km/h max, reduced express pattern)

TT, slight nit pick. It's actually a $5B plan. $4B is what they want from the Fed's to go with their $1B, which they won't put in unless they get the $4B from them, because its historically been funded 80% Feds, 20% State.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Qld Govt be it ALP or now LNP would like to think Bruce Hwy is 80% funded by Feds. Fed ALP claim there was never a deal for 80/20 funding of the Pacific Hwy which has much more money tipped into it. This will not be got away with in Qld.
