Transport workers angry at Queensland Rail division plans

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union today presented the Transport Minister with about 2,500 letters from workers angry with the plan to split Queensland Rail into three divisions.

Spokesman Owen Doogan said union delegates rallied outside John Mickel's office and were seeking advice to see if the split is legal.

He says the Minister must review the plan.

"It appears that Minister Mickel is under the misapprehension that there is no concern among the work force about what's happening," Mr Doogan said.

"The issue for him is that we will be presenting about 2,500 letters from members telling Minister Mickel precisely how angry they are about his proposition."

A spokesman for the Minister says a meeting was held this afternoon with union delegates as part of the ongoing consultations.
