Here is a screen shot of the train status as of 0835am 8 August 2012

On radio 612 ABC Brisbane just announced that major delays on the Beenleigh, Ipswich lines etc.

There are no delays at present, what is confusing them is that the major alert is triggered by the track closure tonight (specifically http://jp.translink.com.au/travel-information/service-updates/details/1342407752 ).

I think they need to program a third indicator, ' Trackwork '

This misinformation is causing further bad public perception of poorly performing public transport when it is not the case at all.

Causes unnecessary angst.

I tweeted @612brisbane, and they corrected.  But we need a permanent fix ...

(I also contacted TL).

The major alert statuses (stati?  :o ) associated with tonight's closure have been removed for now.

Back online now bob.  Must've been a  minor system hiccup.

Good that TransLink did respond and remove the confusing alerts promptly.  A lot of media is just scanning the status, and reporting on air that there are delays etc. when in fact it might just be an upcoming closure (as was the case this morning).  They don't have time to click through and explore what the issue actually is.

So improvement in the status alerts will help a lot to dispel this confusion.
