Had privilage to catch the Hong Kong Airport line last few days.

City bound
- out of passport control, grab a trolley push about 40m on flat groud inside to city bound platform. As there are two Passport controls at each terminal, whether you exit South or North you have easy access to platform along with travelator option. Lady to help you load your bags if required.

- We were on Terminal 1, but terminal 2 is same opposite and both doors open, one from each side for each teriminal.

- Train is long, 10 cars, but only 9 cars with seats (more on this later)

- train has great seating for the 25min trip top speed 135km/hr, 4 stops to HK station, we used the one still on mainland prior Kowloon. end sections on each car are quiet. Indicator to show your position as you progress along line.

- end sections of each car is quiet area

- WIFI

- Ticket price is $100HK for adults one way single card/paper style ticket, so about $A13 but returns at other cheaper options available.

- At station in town, free bus 20-30min for hotels, again trolleys available to enable you to carry your bags from exit of train to bus. And lady to help unload bags

Returning
- Free bus pickup

- At station, trolleys again (note all free), airline checkin option which we used and enabled bags to be dropped off just like airport. Now this is where the 10th car comes in. I noticed that all the station stops are a bit long, 2-3min. The 10th car also has big doors on both sides, hence I assume its the baggage car.

- on arrival to airport, exit left for terminal 1, exit right for terminal 2, arrival line is above the departure line so again flat direct access into checkin area, which of course you can walk straight past to passport control as this was done in city.

- And yes ladies were again there to help again

This is all less than 10 years old, but they have got it close to right and its a big airport with a large number of people are being moved. So maybe not a direct option for Brisbane, but going by my recent trip to Sydney, I think an option there for city check in, bags may however need to be moved by road.
