Appear to be nothing more substantial than timetable adjustments.  I had a quick squizz and I think there was an extra inbound 506 and 516, but no other new services and no route changes.

Funding and delivery of private operator services and new vehicles has really slacked off in the last 2 years - it needs to be seriously ramped up.

Ipswich commuters connect with new bus times

Ipswich public transport passengers will notice improvements to local bus services with a number of minor timetable changes from next month.

Assistant Minister for Public Transport Steve Minnikin said from 16 July the timetables on 17 of Westside's 19 local bus routes would have minor changes to improve connections between bus and train services.

"The new timetables will mean the majority of routes will only change by a couple of minutes at most," Mr Minnikin said.

"While only small, the changes will give Ipswich commuters more reliable local services."

Member for Ipswich Ian Berry said the new timetables would deliver better connections between buses and trains, particularly at the busy Ipswich and Goodna train stations which together handle about 2,800 peak commuters each day.

"Timetables have been slightly amended so that they are better designed around train arrival and departure times, and will be more reliable when it comes to connecting with bus services," Mr Berry said.

"Commuters already have plenty of choices, with services on most routes operating more frequently during the morning and afternoon peak periods."

Ipswich commuters already have access to more than 4,000 bus services a week that connect to local train stations.

Member for Ipswich West Sean Choat said buses were an effective way of reducing traffic congestion around major train stations and community hubs.

"Buses are a great way of cutting congestion on our local streets, as every full bus takes around 40 cars off the road," he said.

"Many people rely on public transport in Ipswich and the LNP is getting on with the job of completing work on new bus stops and driver facilities at Riverlink Shopping Centre in North Ipswich."

More information and copies of the new timetables are available by visiting the TransLink website www.translink.com.au or phoning 13 12 30, anytime.

I think you'll find they are actually speeding most of them up now that the motorway and other local works do not have such a marked effect on things.  Not massive improvements, but at least they do tweak things.

No such luck for long-suffering Gold Coast commuters though.  Obviously not too many MPs rely on catching the no. 5 anywhere...

Better connections for the Western Region

Better connections and improved reliability for the Western Region

From Monday 16 July, we're improving bus services in the Western Region with better connections and more accurate timetables.

In December 2010, we looked at how the bus services in your area were operating. We made some changes to try and improve the on-time running and efficiency of the network. Since then, we've taken the time to review these services and identified some ways we can make your bus services even better and more reliable.

We're making these changes as part of an ongoing improvement process to provide you with better public transport.

Improved reliability

We've noticed that some bus routes have too much time built into their timetables, which means they arrive at stops before they're meant to and have to wait to make sure they don't run early. Then some bus routes don't have enough time built in, which means sometimes they run late and miss connections to other buses and trains.

By adjusting the service times of your buses, we're able to help get you wherever you need to go - on time, more often.

Most services have received minor timetable adjustments so make sure you check out your new timetable online or at your local library.

Better connections

If you usually travel to and from Redbank, Goodna and Ipswich stations, from 16 July you can expect better connections between buses and trains.

Which services will change?

These timetable changes will affect all local routes except for route 535 (it's a new service) and route 529.

Click on your route below to check out your new timetable, or pick up a copy at your local library (from early July).
