A WOMAN has narrowly escaped being hit by a train after her car careered off the Bruce Highway and onto a railway near Mackay.

The woman was pulled from the car in Bakers Creek around 6.30pm just before a passing train slammed into her car.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
