Anyone plan to do this on the 28th.  No takers so far so, so happy to change to the following Thursday 5th July so that @RTT_rules might be able to come along?

Would if I could - I'm struggling enough with the day off for the GoldlinQ visit as we will be a bit understaffed round then, so sadly no for me.
Ride the G:

Would love to, but will be away on that date.

I cannot commit at this point.
I will know closer to the day, subject to work loads.

There is an all lines Queensland Rail CRGs meeting on the 5th July, but we will be back at Central well in time for the CRG meeting.

There has been some recent work to the old pineapple siding at Traveston.
Siding can be seen on this document --> http://www.gympie.qld.gov.au/documents/PDCK001.01.pdf

Does anyone know what has been on the day GympieLanders this week?

Are the ICEs still elsewhere?

ICEs have been scarce on the ground recently, not sure where they are.

Fares_Fair

A question for the CRG perhaps, they've been gone a while.

Report received from the evening service (5:45pm departure from Roma St) say they are still AWOL.
Perhaps HTG could enlighten us.

The daytime Gympielanders has been 6-car IMU100/120s for most of the past 2 weeks (with the odd 6-car IMU160 every now and again).

Meanwhile the NBR-CAB counterpeak shuttle service (also a rostered ICE run) has been scoring a 3-car EMU whenever it's not a SMU260. (It's usually a 50/50 crapshoot between the EMU or SMU260 on the shuttles).

I was kind of hoping EMU01 might have been trotted out ..   :P

Close... EMU02 was on the shuttles on Friday ;)
EMU24 had the shuttle duties yesterday, and from today's sighting whilst on the road, a 260 series SMU had the shuttle duties today.

Nice ride up and back today, but I don't really see the fuss about keeping Traveston open.....
It's a 4.5 km / 5 min drive to Cooran according to Google so why wouldn't everyone just go there?

Some of the locals can't drive, so they do like to be able to access the station direct.

As Traveston is re-settled will become a useful station.

QuoteSome of the locals can't drive, so they do like to be able to access the station direct.
Based on the wander I took, I don't think the access is particularly friendly to people with mobility issues. Rough rocky uneven ground, no footpaths, not many houses close by anyway etc.

For those who can't drive, they could get to Cooran using the same means as how they would go to there or Gympie for day to day stuff like Groceries, pub etc. (The same friend who drives them to the shop could drive them to Cooran station).

ozbob

The locals said they do access it direct.  It is of no consequence keeping it open now.  Trains only stop there as needed.

It is to remain open (Minister has said so) and don't forget, Traveston is being resettled as well.

Few more photographs.  The siding on the loop has been truncated to a short single spur.

On the 5th of July I was able to meet Lauren McVicar who as part of her studies has written report on Traveston Railway Station.

Lauren has agreed to make this available for your information.  Thank you!

Is it time to check out the Traveston station once again?

Gazza

Would rather go to Gympie North...It's the one Translink station I'm yet to travel to by rail.

Stillwater

Both doable on the same train journey -- people get off where they want.  It might make sense to travel to Eumundi or Pomona to inspect the temporary platforms there (which are to be replaced with permanent ones) and call a media conference, highlighting the need for the other temporary platforms south of Nambour to be replaced, perhaps with partial duplications at places like Palmwoods.

One option is rail to Nambour, then bus to say Pomona/Cooran Eumundi.  Then get the GympieLander to Gympie North and then back.

^  I am up for that.  Catch the GympieLander from Eumundi to Gympie North and return on that.  Take some snacks.
