As per previous discussions on this line, Loganlea will likely to be the new terminating station replacing the need for a Beenleigh upgrade. Loganlea station should have two island platforms 3 through tracks and one terminating track for peak turnarounds. The whole Gold Coast line needs to be upgraded to ETCS 2. This will allow for approach to stations at speed as well as driver only operations, which will save money translating into high frequency services 7 days a week.

Sections around Trinder Park will have to be reworked, either with tunnelling or land resumptions and track realignment. The aim should be to allow trains to run up to 100kph and above for the whole length of the track from Beenleigh to Kuraby.
