This morning on arrival at Oxley was an announcement that the 6.44am service from Oxley was running 8 minutes late.

On boarding the train, the guard promptly announced that this service (normally stopping all stations) would now run express Corinda to Roma St, as the following  all stations services would be immediately behind.  Arrival at Roma St was only a couple of minutes behind timetable.
Importantly the massive congestion problems that would have been endured by passengers on the service was avoided.

Good move, the 6.44am service would have been grossly overloaded by about Sherwood in any case.

This dynamic adjustment when circumstances dictate is sensible.  The train had some issues with a door problem prior to arrival at Oxley the caused the late running.

Well done!

This effort is further proof that QR in more than capable of a high standard of service given the resources to do the job.
Most current problems are a lack of funding to provide the infrastructure and assets that are needed to provide the service, or are a direct result of other authorities,  The Ministers office and Translink as recent news events clearly show.
Most QR staff have a sense of pride in their job and do their best and as such are deserving of our support.
In this case someone showed some initiative with a positive end result that deserves to be acknowledged.

Good work QR, well done, I had a really late start this morning and caught the 8.58 from Oxley to the city and it was really refreshing to just be able to stand on the train for the length of the journey and actually have some space to not bump into people crammed in like sardines as are the earlier peak time trains.

Hi Mozz,

You missed it!   :D

My wife thought it was super having riding on an  express from Corinda to Roma St.  Enjoyed it myself too!

We slowed for Indooroopilly as per restrictions with the construction, other than that nice run into town!

Loading was only a 4 ..

Interesting trip in from Oxley this morning. I caught the 8.58am service from Oxley to the City (then Shorncliffe).  Arrival at Oxley at 9.03am, shortly after leaving Oxley the Guard announced that due to a track problem at Taringa the train would now run from Corinda to Roma Street Express via Yeerongpilly.

Corinda platform 1 at 9.06am. Departed at 9.08am, through Yeerongpilly 9.14am,  dual gauge line, through Fairfield 9.17am, passed a down all stopper at Dutton Park, through South Bank 9.20am, short stop after South Brisbane and just prior to the bridge waiting for a path into Roma St.  Arrival at Roma St platform 9 at 9.29am (scheduled 9.21am).  Train will pick that up on the run to Shorncliffe no doubt.

Nice change!  Opportunity to check out progress on the Tennis Centre at Tennyson, noted a lot of track maintenance vehicles at Yeerongpilly.

:)

Later footnote:  advice received that a broken rail join (fish plate) was the track issue at Taringa.
