Fantasy on time bus statistics

Could this be why we never believe our bus statistics?!

That's a key word: the statistics are "self-reported".

    Does seem overly trusting of Auckland Council, who hires these various firms at vast public expense to provide a timetabled bus service, to monitor outcomes using some school-yard, "cross your heart and hope to die" method of self-reporting.

TT, go have a look on the Translink website in their RTI (or RFI, whatever they're called these days) disclosure log. IIRC, there in one in there about hte on time running which explained how they get the bus statistics. I did post it up here a while ago when I found it.
