Kangaroo Bus Lines' new $18.6 million depot will become operation at Burpengary later this month, six years after the company started looking for a site to replace its crowded Morayfield Rd base.

KBL managing director Daryl Webster said he was ``over the moon'' with the 30,311sqm facility on Pitt Rd which has space for up to 147 buses, including seven maintenance bays with workshops, and offices.

"Our staff will welcome the new facility with lockers, showers, driver recreation areas and ample customer car parking,'' Mr Webster said.

"The new depot is also environmentally sustainable, with a 200,000 litre capacity water storage tank to reduce our call on town water.

"Almost 170 solar panels on the roof will generate 30.6Kw of renewable energy, reducing our call on the electricity grid.

State Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said both the TransLink Network Plan and the State Government's Connecting SEQ 2031 plan identified the Moreton Bay region as a "hot-spot'' for public transport growth.

KBL currently has 90 buses and coaches, runs 2245 services on 60 routes a week and employs 128 people.

Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

- Sunbus' Caloundra depot

Now let's see some movement on Wulkuraka and Clapham...

Its part of the NGR contract.

Which in its present form might seem unlikely to survive a change of government.

Good point.  I wonder if Can Do would commit to this?
