^From their perspective, Because the piloting of the ferry is independent of the fare collection, and stops are less frequent.

Go cards on sale CityCats

Greetings,

Not much fanfare but go cards are now available for purchase on CityCats from today.  Well done TransDev and TransLink.

Go card is a much preferred option to expensive, time limited single paper tickets.

The next step is for the authorities to have go cards available for purchase on buses.

This would enable the eventual phase out of paper tickets and the delays associated with their purchase.

Adult, child and senior go cards will be available on board all CityCat services from today.

Transport Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk and Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said from January 30 public transport users will have the option to purchase go cards on board CityCat services for as little as $10.

"Customers are already able to top-up go cards on board all TransLink CityCat services and this will allow those visiting the region to purchase a low priced go card when they're on board," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"go cards will be sold for a minimum of $10, which will include a $5 refundable deposit and $5 travel credit, but customers can also choose a higher value should they wish.

"This is a joint project between TransLink and the Brisbane City Council's operator TransDev to make go cards and their discounts even more accessible to TransLink and CityCat customers, in particular for infrequent public transport users and tourists enjoying some time on the river.

"Together with Council, we've listened to feedback and commuters and particularly tourists to Brisbane want this product."

"This simple-to-use system will allow users to integrate with other public transport modes and access the iconic sights and attractions of South East Queensland, which has one of the largest integrated public transport networks in the world."

Cr Quirk said a detailed visitor information pack that links top attractions with integrated public transport had also been released.

"The visitor information pack is issued with go cards and includes a flip-out guide to using the TransLink public transport network, as well as the top 10 things to see and do in Brisbane," Cr Quirk said.

"There are 12.3 million domestic and international tourists who visit South East Queensland each year who wish to travel around Brisbane by CityCat, so this is another incentive for people to get on board.

"This is just one way we can make it easier for recreational users and visitors to Brisbane to use public transport to get out and about and explore our beautiful city."
