Some roads in and around South Bank and Brisbane's CBD will be closed on Saturday 31 December and Sunday 1 January. These road closures may affect bus services and some bus stops will be closed. Transport officers will be on hand to direct you to alternative stops.

All off-peak tickets sold on Saturday 31 December 2011 will be valid until 7am Sunday 1 January 2012. For example, a ticket purchased on 31 December 2011 is valid for a passenger boarding a service at 6.50am on 1 January 2012, even though the trip home could take one hour.

Please note: due to operational reasons and factors outside of TransLink's control, some of the timetable information above is subject to change. Please check this website for updates before you travel.

NightLink services have also been increased over the festive season to help you get home safely all night.

Set in train

Through running trains from Rosewood is a Christmas present for those out there indeed.

The 2 hr gap for Sunshine Coast services in last years 2010 Christmas day timetable was a "weekend timetable" upgrade.

However the 2011 Christmas day timetable for the Sunshine Coast line is considered a "downgrade" (from 90 mins mostly through runs to 120 mins + mostly transfers), but I would guess staffing levels may affect things.

IMO, I would think the Sunday Sunshine Coast timetable could've sufficed for Christmas day.

Ditch the car for Xmas

LOCALS are being urged to use public transport as the Christmas rush intensifies over the next week.

Member for Chatsworth Steven Kilburn said many train and bus routes serviced all the major shopping centres throughout the area, including for late night shopping.

"It is always busy in the lead up to Christmas and it can be quite a struggle with a large number of shoppers, all vying for space on the road and in the car park," Mr Kilburn said.

"Public transport takes the hassle out of Christmas shopping, so you can sit back and relax as someone else does the driving.

"Public transport makes it easy to get to the shops and there are more than 700 bus routes across the south east that connect to major shopping precincts and centres."

TransLink services some of the biggest shopping centres in South-East Queensland including:

Carindale Shopping Centre: Local bus routes 177, 183, 200, P201, 202, 203, 204, P205, P206, P208, 209, 212, 213, 215, P217, 222, 225, 250, 270, 590, 598 and 599.

Cannon Hill: 210, P211, 213, 214, 215, P216, 220, P221, 227, 232, 590, 598 and 599

The Great Circle line (route 598 and 599) runs between shops at Brookside, Chermside, Toombul, Cannon Hill, Carindale, Mt Gravatt, Sunnybank, Indooroopilly, and Toowong.

Mr Kilburn said customers could take advantage of TransLink's extensive rail network, with trains helping people get to local shopping centres and in to the Brisbane CBD from more than 140 local stations.

"There are hundreds of public transport options that take people to major shopping centres throughout South East Queensland," he said.

For timetable and service information or to plan your trip visit the TransLink web or mobile site, www.translink.com.au, or phone the Call Centre on 13 12 30.

Except that the line is closed from 24-27/12 from Darra to Rosewood :P

True indeed. So why then bother working up a timetable showing trains going all the way with no mention on the closure on the timetable?

I'm only a normal commuter, I don't look for line closures, I expect them to be open, especially at critical holiday periods when people need to be connected.
