Survey shows 60% preferred a partial Council subsidy for public transport

Public transport is seen as the biggest drawback to life in the Scenic Rim.

A  Council commissioned survey found this was nominated by 39.3% of its respondents as the greatest weakness of living in the Region.

On the other hand the Scenic Rim's greatest strength was viewed as its scenery, friendly communities and lifestyle.

The survey found that next to the blackspot of poor bus services or other public transport failings, lesser disadvantages were nominated as poor roads (29%) and inadequate community planning (23%).

Yet, when asked to indicate a preference, 65.7% of the total surveyed chose a better road network over more public transport.

The positive side of life in the Scenic Rim was shown when 47.3% of respondents voted for the region's diverse scenic beauty, while 45.3% favoured our friendly communities, and 44% opted for the Scenic Rim's quality of life, ticking its box as a nice place to live.

To a question on how public transport should be funded if it were provided by Council, 60% overall preferred a partial Council subsidy.

Of this total only 36% of the Fassifern respondents in Division 5 opted for the subsidy compared to 74.4% in Division 6.

I hate to be blunt but seriously, what did they expect?  To go and live a rural lifestyle and have a bus past the door every 15 minutes?

I think there's far more pressing PT needs in SEQ than this.
