How embarrassing would it be for Queendland if NSW had a rail
Connection to Coolangatta Airport before they did  ;D

Would be amusing, however the seats the Casino - Murwillumbah line passes through are safe National seats, much safer after the current election, I wonder if there's any political will to reopen the line, let alone extending it.

$359M is being spent on upgrading the road at Banora Point (it might be dangerous presently, but the capacity was fine), this is a significant hill any rail line will have to pass through or around (but the yokels will go crazy if a line was to extend even a small way into Fingal Spit).

The best suggestion made as a comment is dual gauge between Murwillumbah and Coolangatta Airport (straddling the NSW border).

Would be even funnier to see 2 coolangatta stations within walking distance of each other because our governments are less coperative than some african nations.
"Where else but Queensland?"
