Was down on Blunder Rd today & got to thinking about the 100's (silly IMO) Akama Rd/Durella St route.  I actually think that it makes more sense for the 100 to continue on Rosemary St/Rudd St to/from the Motorway.  Parts of Blunder Rd represent the edge of development, so running a bus along it means it only has catchment on one side of the route.  If it ran along Rosemary St it would have catchment on both sides of the road south of Freeman Rd and also not duplicate the 101.  This would also be faster - it's the way you would drive from Ipswich Rd to Inala Town Centre.

Removing a BUZ from Blunder Rd would attract understandable opposition.  One way to reduce this would be to create another one.  I'd suggest that the 101, truncated to Oxley Station, would be a valid candidate, and this would improve the cross town links as opposed to the current situation.  This MUST be truncated to Oxley.  Coordinating with the train at Corinda is pointless and waste.  Extend the 104 to Oxley if you are concerned about the connections there - I personally don't really think this is justified.

I also think that there is one too many routes in this area.  Making the 103 serve Poinciana St/Azalea St/Balsa St would remove most of the need for the 102, and not be a huge problem (IMO) for current users of the 103.  The major limitation then of removing the 102 would be not serving Englefield Rd/Douglas St.  Should it become a short working, peak hour only, removed or left alone?  I don't see the point in re-routing the 103 if the 102 is to remain in its current form.

I always appreciate a map shot as I find it IMPOSSIBLE to visualise and understand what people are talking about when it comes to re-routing proposals.
Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

To be honest, I'm not sure which proposal to support. They all sound good on paper, however, changing ANY route in the Inala/Durack area will cause uproar. On the irregular occasion that I have observed passenger numbers at Oxley Station, there appear to be more passengers on the 102 than 101. With the 100BUZ, I expect passenger numbers to further decline on the 101.

I think if a BUZ is warranted down Rosemary St, I would prefer that it would be the 103, based purely on my observations of passenger numbers. The connection from Inala Plaza to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre appears to be a popular one. Plus, this would (hopefully) be the catalyst to the removal of the 460, provided that the 103 is extended to Forest Lake Village. At the very least, the 103 should run as a half-hourly service, with the same operating hours as a BUZ on weekdays (it may be harder to justify a weekend 103 service at 11pm, although the connection to the train at Darra might help)

I think I'll just sit on the fence for this poll.

I think all the routes in Inala/Durack should be revised to connect with the train at Darra (for better interchange with express services).  I assume the Corinda connections go back to the days when Corinda terminators existed.  I don't really see any benefit with Oxley interchange vs Darra.

But that means doubling back.  Even in peak hour, it's unclear that the saving of the express - 5 minutes is saved express from Darra vs all stations from Oxley - would outweigh the longer bus trip.  I think the 101 at least should stay in Oxley.  Then you have the fact that it would be slower outside of peak hour, possibly except for Ipswich bound.

Hence suggesting always kicking off bus threads with a link to the relevant timetable/map.
