Route 88 is constantly driven slowly inbound on Coronation Drive

Majority of inbound trips I have on this run are driven at well under 50km/h (my estimate) with cars continually passing quickly.

It seems that the drivers feel that the timetable is too slack.  In one instance a driver intentionally left stop 24 late assuming he would catch the timetable.

Today, I nearly missed my train because of it.

The same can be said for a lot of routes (Especially busway routes). Even the pointless and dredded 335 can sometimes have a extra little dwell time at selected stops as I've found out numerous times when there's been heavy delays inbound along Gympie Road.

I've noticed that the 88 can dwell at Roma Street Bus Station after all passengers have boarded. I've even considered disembarking & catching another service pulled up behind.

SurfRail, a bus lane isn't a solution to a too slack timetable.

We should do a review of everything, rebuild the system, routings and all, to be more clear, concise and relevant to the current urban structure of Brisbane.
Sadly that would cost millions and would result in a billion pages of reports and no action. :(

I notice this on a number of routes at the quiet times. Not sure about the middle of the day though.

It is if you adjust the timetable accordingly. A corridor like Coronation Drive without any bus priority will never be timetabled for a "best case" scenario.

That's essentially what's happened in the other regions, massive overhauls in the early years of Translink. While the outer suburbs and the Coasts aren't known for great public transport - they generally suffer from poor frequency, poor operating hours, etc. - the actual network planning is solid. This is the opposite situation to Brisbane city.

The "massive overhaul" hasn't happened in Brisbane. I'm not sure if that's because it's such a massive project, because BCC's pride is getting in the way, or both.

Was on a 199 yesterday morning when the driver jumped off the bus and bought a coffee. Must have taken a good 5 minutes but we still arrived on time.
