THE firm behind Melbourne's Metcard ticketing system has lodged a claim with the government demanding it pay it up to $20 million extra for the system's performance over the past decade.

OneLink Transit Systems has operated the Metcard system for the state government since signing a contract in 1998. In May, according to the Transport Ticketing Authority's annual report tabled in Parliament yesterday, OneLink told the government that under a clause in its original contract it was eligible for the extra money.
