Seems like good news that QR are actually listening and making changes.

However, the Keperra wait mentioned in the article shows another example of QR reverse logic used when producing this timetabling i.e. delaying a passenger train 3 minutes instead of delaying an empty train. They could have made two of those three minutes by only running express to Enoggera instead of Mitchelton, thus reducing a 24 minute gap for over a hundred commuters.
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

Feedback received, thanks!

QuoteIsn't it just GREAT that the new timetable means that it is now completely impossible for me to get to work on the weekends?

I, like many other people, start work at 0600 every day of the week. On weekends I used to have to get the first train at 0529 from Oxley, jump off at Auchenflower at 0544 and hope to b%ggery that the taxi I had pre-booked would be waiting so I could get to work on time (I work near the Valley).

Now QR in its infinite 1948-style wisdom has decided to run the first train of the weekend even later - so it only gets to Oxley at 0540. This means that I just have to get a taxi all the way from hoome - a lovely fare of $40. Awesome - $80 to get to work for two days!

It wouldn't be such a problem if there were enough taxis to ensure that one would turn up to my house. Unfortunately there aren't, so if I am late my pay is docked meaning a weekend's work could cost $100 - $120 - just to arrive!

Thanks QR - 50 years behind the times and slipping backwards all the time!

Who on earth sets these timetables?

Do they EVER consult with the people who actually use the rail system?

It would appear not!

I am concerned about the down sizing of the afternoon Cleveland train from six carriages to three. My daughter gets on at Morningside & as the train is already at full capacity many students are unable to board the train & are left at the station. This is a safety risk as well as the students possibly missing tutoring sessions, sports training etc. :'(
