Corridors which should have a 10 minute off peak headway, or better, but don't.

Kelvin Grove Rd works reasonably well inbound, but not outbound.  Between the 345, 390, 359 and 36x many routes traverse this road per hour on a weekday.  However, it doesn't work well outbound from south of Roma St.

At Indooroopilly on a Saturday daytime, 17 buses per hour run along Moggill Rd/Coronation Drive (i.e. not counting 415, 468, 105 etc).  However, even with this number of buses there remains no stop with a 10 minute headway in either direction.  From Taringa to Milton at least the headway requirement is met inbound by 444+88.  However, this doesn't apply outbound even to Auchenflower where the 411, 412, 415, 417 assist in due to the amazing number of places which buses leave from.

Old Cleveland Rd on a weekday similarly has approximately 13 buses per hour, however the bar is only met arguably as a number of services (i.e. 200/204) lose 4-5 minutes going via W'Gabba.  Your city arrival time on a 200 would be more than 10 minutes after the preceding 222.  However, again, stop locations make the frequency not effective on the outbound.

Gympie Rd is reasonably logical as far as Chermside, although (as readers would be aware) the stop location for the 330/340 on the far side of Hamilton Rd is something I am not a fan of.

Logan Rd/Old Northern Rd/Wynnum Rd/Cavendish Rd all fall well short of the mark.

Having used high frequency services previously, most notably the 373* in Sydney, it is a far more pleasant experience than what is dished up in this town.  Even if losing 2 minutes or so deviating into Cowper St did annoy me.

* It seems that this may have had a frequency reduction in recent years.  :-w  However, the 8 minute Sunday middle of the day frequency lives on.  Refer to 131500.com.au

In practice, the Gold Coast Highway suffers from bunching, although not as much as pre-2006.  Weekends are worse, although given the Gold Coast Highway peak is basically a big plateau between 7am and 7pm every day of the week this can be a significant problem.  I have been telling TTA and others that services needed to be ramped up in the lead in to the rapid transit system opening, in particular so people become accustomed to transferring.

There should be a 10 minute corridor from Griffith Uni to Southport, and from Broadbeach to Robina.  Currently a combination of various routes operates between these 2 locations - basically around 4 per hour, but with departures bunched together.

It certainly sounds sensible to ramp up the bus services leading up to the LRT project opening.  Otherwise you will have less people on the LRT.  The cost of doing so would be finite (as opposed to ongoing), so long as it is understood that the services are temporary.

I would also add that on weekday daytimes, the O/B 454 follows 2 minutes behind the 460, with both routes having a half hourly frequency.  So, 28 minute waits from a 4/hour service to Mt Ommaney via Freeway.  Using the 453 only results in a later arrival.  Somewhat daft.
