CITYCAT and ferry services are back in full swing as of today, just in time for the release of the interim report on Queensland's devastating floods.

The massive inundation of water down the Brisbane River in January damaged 23 ferry terminals and destroyed eight of them, bringing river transport to a halt for almost a month.

A reduced service resumed in mid-February and all stops are now operating following the reopening of South Brisbane's River Plaza ferry terminal and the brand new Orleigh St terminal at West End.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said council had worked tirelessly to restore the CityCat and ferry network.

"We promised to get all CityCat stops running again within three months after the floods and we've accomplished that," Cr Quirk said.

"This achievement reaffirms our commitment to getting Brisbane back in business."

Cr Quirk said today also saw the 18th CityCat come into service, after it was launched last Sunday.

"We are now just one ferry away from meeting our election commitment to take Brisbane's CityCat fleet to a record 19 vessels by 2012," he said.
