Northern Adelaide buses run to revamped timetables

MORE night and weekend services are running from today in the biggest shake-up of bus timetables in six years.

This includes more than 750 extra and expanded bus services, many on north and south routes, including a new Gawler route and a direct link between the Lyell McEwin and Modbury hospitals.

The changes, which come into effect today, include three new school bus services between Mt Barker and the city to relieve pressure on existing Hills routes.

There are additional express services between the suburbs and the city, including an extra 113 daily for O-Bahn commuters and a "double-division" system where, depending on demand, one bus will follow immediately behind another to pick up overflow passengers.

Trains on the full city-Noarlunga service resume today, a month ahead of schedule. The line between Noarlunga and Oaklands Park has been closed since February while 15km of sleepers were replaced.
