Hello All,

Big thumbs up to Queensland Rail.   :-t

I had a problem trying to get home Wednesday (Origin) night from Roma St.
The 18:05 Nambour service was delayed 30 minutes due to a failed unit.

Fortunately the delay wasn't any longer than it could have been, this would have been in no small part by the fact that QR's Chief Operations Officer was there and on the phone keeping his customers as happy as possible & getting things rolling (literally).  :-t

Apparently, during large cultural events (such as the State Of Origin) they are having the General Managers work the stations to see what is happening and fix issues there and then & resolving staff issues going forward.

The COO also updated the following news:
•   There will be six new IMU's for the Gold & Sunshine Coast.
•   They will be using the line capacity thru exhibition – and they have a project to utilise that space.
•   Was curious if we were happy with the extra trains – I stated we were however, wanted the express to be a real express.

Thanks for the feed-back.

Regards,
Fares_Fair.

Not news.

Big news.  BrizCommuter thought that this would be a foaming fantasy!

Question: How will this help?  Won't the trains still be running in the mains every 3 minutes between Albion and Northgate?  Are there to be trains using the crossovers to the suburbans north of Bowen Hills?

I would ask this question especially regarding the off peak trains.

In the pm peak, approx. 50% of southbound slots on the mains are free, whilst during the Ekka most northbound slots are taken by loop services as far as Bowen Hills, with some free slots still available beyond Bowen Hills towards Northgate. Thus it could be possible to run a Caboolture/Petrie/Sunshine Coast service southbound through the City (either from an inbound service, or starting from Mayne's ballon loop with a conflict), cross the northbound main track at Roma Street (with a train only every 15mins), run around the loop and merge with other Caboolture/Petrie/Sunshine Coast services north of Bowen Hills. Something for foamers to dribble over!

This option was suggested to QR some five months ago but was not posted out of respect to the credibility of the site and with the utmost disrespect to the foamers who it is thought would have then started a major discussion on (a) why it cant be done, or (b) done a foam off without bothering to think through the practical implications of using that option.
